Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that causes a malfunction in the body system responsible for producing sweat, saliva, tears and mucus. People with CF produce thick and sticky mucus within the lungs and airways and the digestive system. This impairs digestive functions of the pancreas and traps bacteria in the lungs resulting in recurrent infection and damage to the lungs over time. There is currently no cure but advances in care and treatment are helping people manage their CF.
